This project involved a full bathroom renovation of an outdated 1970s bathroom in Rialto, Dublin. The existing layout featured an old steel bath and dated finishes that no longer met the homeowner’s needs.
Kev Decor completed a complete strip-out and transformation, replacing the bath with a modern walk-in shower and upgrading all plumbing, insulation, electrical, and finishes. The result is a clean, modern bathroom with improved comfort, moisture protection, and long-term durability.
What we completed
Removal and disposal of existing steel bath (approx. 200kg)
Removal of old toilet, vanity unit, wall tiles, and floor tiles
Strip-out of existing plasterboard from walls and ceiling
Installation of new plumbing for shower, toilet, and vanity
Construction of new stud walls and ceiling framework
Supply and installation of 100mm insulation to external, ceiling, and side walls to prevent mould
Installation of 12mm insulated plasterboard to walls and ceiling
New electrical installation for extractor fan, mirror, and ceiling lighting
Installation of 0.6mm cement boards to the floor
Full waterproofing (tanking) applied to walls and floor
Installation of new 150mm shower tray
Wall tiling and floor tiling with grouting
Ceiling skim and application of bathroom-grade paint
Installation of glass shower panel (180 x 160) with chrome frame
Installation of new shower unit and mixer
Installation of new toilet with basin
Installation of vanity unit with cabinet and single tap
Fitting of mirror and LED ceiling light
Painting of bathroom door
Final clean-up and removal of skip
Result
The completed bathroom now features a modern walk-in shower, improved insulation, updated electrical fittings, and a clean, contemporary finish throughout. The renovation not only modernised the space visually but also significantly improved comfort, ventilation, and moisture protection.
